Shots Fired Following Theft of Man’s 4-Wheeler in Spartanburg: Investigation Underway

Investigation Launched Over Stolen 4-Wheeler and Shots Fired

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – An investigation is underway following multiple shots fired and the reported theft of a man’s 4-Wheeler, according to Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

A burglary was reported, prompting deputies to arrive at the scene. Upon their arrival, the homeowner described the incident to the officers. He reported hearing a motorbike near his property, and as he ventured outside, he caught sight of a bright light directed at his shed.

Shots Fired Amid Vehicle Theft

According to the deputies, the homeowner responded to the suspected intrusion by firing a warning shot. This shot was not aimed at the figure he had spotted but was intended to scare off the potential trespasser. This however led to a return fire, as the individual fled into the woods behind the property, releasing 3-4 rounds from a firearm. Thankfully, none of the rounds found their mark on the homeowner or his property.

On realizing his shed had been broken into, the homeowner contacted law enforcement. Thereafter, it was discovered that his 4-Wheeler, alongside a green Honda, were missing from his property.

Investigation Leads To Recovered Vehicle

Deputies noticed a second trail adjacent to the home, potentially caused by the vehicle used in the theft of the Honda. They followed the trail which eventually led them to the stolen Honda, abandoned without any occupants in sight. Despite recovering the one vehicle, the 4-Wheeler in question is yet to be located.

This case remains under investigation as authorities exhaust all leads to identify the culprits and recover the remaining stolen property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident and residents are advised to remain vigilant, secure their property, and report any suspicious activity promptly to law enforcement.
