Spartanburg’s All Elite Training gears up for Charity Workout Event

In a powerful show of community and compassion, the Spartanburg-based fitness center, All Elite Training, is gearing up for an intense evening of workouts to help raise funds for suicide prevention. The event titled ‘The Big One’ is set to take place on April 18 in Barnet Park, from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm. Proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

An Evening of Fitness and Solidarity

The participants of ‘The Big One’ will engage in an exhaustive range of exercises, including squats, reverse lunges, side lunges, burpees, and many more to burn up-to 600 calories each. The regimen is designed by the professional trainers at All Elite Training to cater to enthusiasts with varying fitness levels, offering modifications for members with knee or back issues.

Anticipation is building as around 500 participants are expected to engage in the fitness-fundraiser, which will conclude with a celebration at Ciclops Brewery.

The purpose behind ‘The Big One’

Justin Rollins, the organizer for ‘The Big One’, shared that the purpose of the event extends beyond fitness. It is also to honor a member of the All Elite Training gym community affected by suicide. He recounted, “I have a client who, unfortunately, lost their son to suicide. They have always been proactive in the community and active in my class. This event snowballed from a fundraiser into something much bigger.”

Suicide in South Carolina

Recent statistics reveal the pressing need for such fundraising initiatives. Data from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control indicates that suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the state, resulting in 797 deaths in 2021. This staggering number underscores the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures, and community events such as ‘The Big One’ play a crucial role in that process.

Event Details

The tickets for the event are priced at $10 and are available for purchase on the All Elite Training website. However, the event is free for Wofford students and staff, city officials, and children. The event commences at 5:30 pm and will feature live musical performances from Mackenzie Morrow, Squirrel Level Road, and Fayssoux McLean with Brandon Turner. While water will be provided, attendees are encouraged to bring their own workout mats and towels.

This is a heavy topic, but we want to give what we can. There is always someone you can talk to“, added Rollins. His words serve as a reminder of the need for conversations and initiatives towards suicide awareness and prevention. Events such as ‘The Big One’ bring communities together, fostering solidarity while raising funds for a significant cause.
