West Union Man Charged with Arson; Spartanburg Man Arrested Locally on Drugs & Weapons Charges
Arrest for Second-Degree Arson in West Union
West Union, SC – A 31-year-old resident of West Union, named as Brandon Kyle Stancil, was taken into custody last Saturday on allegations of second-degree arson. The said incident reportedly occurred at a dwelling located on Burns Mill Road.
The Oconee Sheriff’s Department, in response to the incident, issued a warrant accusing Stancil of burning a residential establishment. An official report from the sheriff’s office recounts that two patrolling officers were called to attend the location at 830 N. Burns Mill Road early on the said day, where they liaised with the fire command.
Stancil, the accused, has since remained in the Oconee County Detention Center, where his bail is set at $15,000.
Drug Trafficking and Illegal Arms Possession Arrest in Spartanburg
In a separate incident on Sunday, Kolar Bounlort, a 54-year-old resident of Spartanburg, was booked by officers of the Walhalla Police Department. Bounlort has been charged with trafficking meth or cocaine base ranging between 28g and less than 100g, which was noted as his first such offence. The charges further extend to possession of a firearm by a convicted violent offender and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The judge has set an aggregate bond amount to the tune of $60,000 for all charges levied against Bounlort. Upon any release from detention, he would be required to wear an electronic monitor as part of the terms for his bail.
