Who Are the New Principals for Spartanburg County Schools for 2024-25 School Year?

As the first day of school in Spartanburg County rapidly approaches on Monday, August 12, eager students and keen parents are preparing for the next step in the educational journey. At the forefront of this transition is the introduction of several promising new principals.

Boiling Springs Elementary

New at the helm is Caleb Ruppe, transferring from his former position as assistant principal at Lyman Elementary School. Ruppe’s prior experience includes a stint as a music teacher from 2016-2021 across several District 2 elementary schools. He holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Liberty University, having acquired his earlier degrees at North Carolina Greenville University and the University of South Carolina.

Carlisle-Foster Grove Elementary School

Taking the reins of Carlisle-Foster Grove Elementary is Norman Mayfield. With an educational background from both the University of South Carolina and Converse University, Mayfield’s portfolio includes serving as an assistant principal at Carlisle-Foster’s Grove from 2017-2012, and subsequent administrative roles within the district.

Chesnee Elementary School

Chesnee Elementary’s new leader is Emily Wilkins, a distinguished member of the team who has embodied several roles throughout her tenure at District 2, including as a special education teacher and assistant principal at Chesnee Elementary School.

Broome High School

Josh Fowler, a veteran teacher with multiple accolades to his name, including Spartanburg One District Teacher of the Year in 2017, is the new principal of Broome High School. Fowler began his career in education as an AP Economics teacher and has since held several administrative posts.

Daniel Morgan Technology Center

With over 25 years’ experience in education, Nikki Honeycutt enters her new role at the Daniel Morgan Technology Center. Her extensive background includes various administrative roles across different school levels and recognitions such as Distinguished Teacher of Literacy for Spartanburg County by the Palmetto State Literacy Association.

Pacolet Elementary School

Cathy Garner, who has contributed 14 years of service as principal at Carlisle-Foster’s Grove Elementary, is now ready to bring her vast experience to her new role at Pacolet Elementary School.

Drayton Mills Elementary School

Assuming leadership at Drayton Mills Elementary School is Carla Cato. Formerly assistant principal at Drayton Hills Elementary School and a school counselor for 16 years, Cato is a two-time recipient of the Teacher of the Year award in Spartanburg School District 7 and Rock Hill School District 3.

Preparations for the 2024-25 School Year
