Local Organizations Preparing to Host Construction-Focused Job Fair in Spartanburg County

Spartanburg County, SC – With a nearly 600 road projects planned over the next six years, a host of local organizations are joining forces to ensure a sufficient labor force with a construction-focused job fair this week. This large-scale preparations are believed to create thousands of jobs in the upcoming years.

Necessity of the Job Fair

With needs stretching beyond road improvements, the county has witnessed an acceleration of business expansions, housing developments, and major city projects. For instance, the rising demand for manpower includes the likes of the new baseball stadium, joint government center, and the planetarium. The surge in job opportunities has driven a significant need for additional skilled workers. Unfortunately, the county has experienced a steep decline in the available labor force.

Despite this concern, companies are hopeful the job fair will bring about a new interest towards the construction industry among the younger demographic.

The job fair aims to engage both experienced workers and those interested to join the industry. Firms promise multiple learning and career growth opportunities for both groups. Participating employers advocate for the industry, reminding the public that construction is not only crucial, but a career path with stability and rewards. The job fair is planned to be held at the Dr. TK Gregg Community Center, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, with several key employers lined up.

“If you’re not experienced and you want to learn, these are going to be the people who are going to teach you,” stated the organizers of SC Works. They advise interested attendees to bring updated resumes, dress appropriately, and to conduct background research on the participating companies.
