โI was here last summer for an internship, and I thought, why not? Being close to other founders is crucial,โ Chowdhury shared excitedly. Once he settled into his new life, he quickly noticed something incredible: the AI scene was exploding. โYesterday, I got hit with three invites for AI events happening the very next night,โ he laughed, acknowledging his fresh rookie status. โWeโre a very new company, but if Iโm getting this many invites, I can only imagine whatโs happening with some of the bigger names.โ

Chowdhuryโs journey reflects a growing trend among a new generation of Gen Z founders. They’re realizing that San Francisco has a charm and energy that many had previously overlooked. Much credit for the cityโs comeback goes to influencers like Garry Tan of Y Combinator, who is stirring things up. โI believe in San Francisco,โ Tan tweeted, urging founders to plant their roots here and collaborate with like-minded creators. This attitude seems to have worked, as founder after founder sings praises about the vibrant ecosystem thatโs resurfacing around them.
Celebrating over a dinner with other tech luminaries like Fred Ehrsam and Dylan Field, Chowdhury felt the high talent density. He stated, โNone of this would happen if I wasnโt in San Francisco.โ The city has transformed into a hotspot for creative thinking and groundbreaking ideas once again.
An Ecosystem for Connection
For a newcomer like Chowdhury, thereโs community in the struggle. He reminds us that whenever he feels stuck, itโs easy to reach out for support over coffee chats with fellow founders. Chowdhury is not alone. His experience is echoed by others, like Mrinal Singh, CEO of Crew, who also spent time during Y Combinator last summer in San Francisco. Initially disillusioned by the cityโs state post-Covid, Singh opted for a brief stint in New York. Yet, he returned to surpriseโa lively, evolving San Francisco. โThe same streets we used to be scared to walk on felt cleaner, safer,โ he shared with a newfound enthusiasm. โWe found ourselves really liking the city.โ

Newcomers from all corners of the worldโlike Yusuf Hilmi who made his way from Istanbulโare finding their place in this thriving tech hub too. โMost big tech companies were built here. This is where founders are.โ Hilmi emphasized. Leaving the past behind, he pointed out, โEvery city has its issues, but San Francisco is a place where the community is unmatched.โ
