Locals Hit the Road for Veterans in Cowpens, S.C.
Good morning, Cowpens! You know, they say the road is long but the journey is worth it. Well, thereโs a group of folks with their engines revved up, ready to prove that saying true in our very own town of Cowpens, S.C.
A Ride With a Cause
For the second year running, The Shop, our local motorcycle social hub on New Cut Rd in Spartanburg is hitting the road with an admirable cause in mind. Member Ty Barker said theyโre planning another run this year to raise funds in support of the homeless veterans of Upstate and across Western North Carolina. Barker said, with real passion in his voice, that itโs a cause close to his heart, and he’s noticed a real need for shelter and resources among the veteran community.
The Road Ahead
Now, about the run. It kicks off on September 21 with a breakfast send-off at 8 AM. You can feel free to join the ride with any motor vehicle of your choice. The first bike leaves at 10 AM and the last departs at 11:30 AM. Theyโve planned a scenic route with stops like C&C Thunder, Redโs Watering Hole, Palmetto Patriot Veteransโ Home, Spartan Motorcycles, The Springs in Boiling Springs, and 221 Grill/ 295 Food and Spirits. Are you ready to hit the road?
After the Ride
But the fun doesnโt end with the finish line. After the ride, they’ll be hosting a 5 PM post-ride bash at The Shop. Talk about ending the day on a high note. The party will feature BBQ, live music, a raffle, and an auction. No better way to unwind after a ride! And itโs for a good cause- your $20 ticket as a rider and $10 ticket as a passenger will directly benefit Warriors Once Again.
Doing Good
Warriors Once Again is a beacon of hope providing shelter to homeless veterans. They donโt just provide a roof, but a home; a safe space offering resources and extending stays lasting several months. Aside from housing, resources they provide include transportation and therapy among others. In its short existence of 3.5 years, theyโve helped an inspiring number of 30 veterans.
Get Involved
So, mark your calendars and let’s make a difference this September 21. Whether you have a bike or not, ride or just be there for the BBQ. Every little bit helps. After all, we’re all in this journey together.
