Brewery relocation announcement

Spartanburg, South Dakota

In an exciting turn of events that’s got locals buzzing, Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery, a popular watering hole on East Saint John Street in Spartanburg, has announced plans to shift to a new location in 2025.

Established in 2015, Ciclops has been a firm fixture in Spartanburg’s burgeoning craft beer scene, drawing fans from near and far with their innovative brews and inviting atmosphere. But come next year, they’ll be welcoming those fans at new digs, attached to a mixed-use development under construction near the Mary Black Foundation Rail Trail.

The Road Ahead

Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery found their start at the 197 E. St. John St address and have grown impressively ever since. Their plans to move to 1097 Union St., Spartanburg, however, mark a bold new chapter in their journey. The move comes as part of a development project embarked upon by Charlotte-based developer Lat Purser and Associates.

The new development is slated to house a 160-unit apartment complex along with at least 2,000 square feet set aside for retail, commercial and restaurant space. In the words of Holden McGinnis, Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery general manager and head brewmaster, “We are super excited about moving to the new location.”

With the popular rail trail attracting about 200,000 visitors a year and the area witnessing significant growth, the move promises to bring new energy and a fresh influx of visitors. The brewery’s renowned Mug Club, which boasts nearly 500 members, stands to benefit from the larger kitchen space and expanded parking at the new location.

The Old Haunt

The building at 197 E. St. John St, currently leased by Ciclops, is up for lease according to Steve Wilson, local businessman and owner of the building. Anticipating interest from new tenants, Wilson believes the setting could well serve another budding brewery. The adjacent building at 191 E. St. John St., also owned by Wilson, is on the market, piquing interest from prospective tenants.

Local folks have much reason to be excited about the move. The anticipation is not just about the larger facility and improving amenities, but also the continued growth of a favored local brewery that has become a part of the community’s fabric. As the sun sets under the clear sky, there’s certainly a sense of excitement bubbling across the community.

What the future holds for Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery in Spartanburg is yet to unfold, but as of now, it’s clear skies ahead and a fresh brew on the horizon.
