Spartanburg Springs to Action Post-Hurricane Helene!

Spartanburg, S.C. – There’s an old saying that goes, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. And this has certainly rung true in the heart of Spartanburg, South Carolina, where locals still rally together, nearly one month after Hurricane Helene left its mark. One local business, in particular, is stepping up to lend a helping hand, showing us all what community spirit truly means.

Steelcore Industrial and Welding Supply, led by CEO Brandon Coates, faced its share of hardship post-Hurricane. They were without power for a whopping ten days and, three weeks later, they’re still holding out for internet service! However, far from letting this dampen their resolve, the local heroes at Steelcore are flipping the narrative on its head.

Steelcore Steps up!

Steelcore, known for its large scale supply of nuts and bolts in the Southeast, is giving away quite an impressive stash – we’re talking about big screws, little screws, and all types of screws you can possibly imagine. Yep! You heard it right. But that’s not all, folks. Coates confirmed that the company will also be giving away more than $100,000 worth of home rebuilding supplies to those hit hardest by Hurricane Helene.

“We’ll be giving away free building supplies, gloves, glasses, wood screws, dry wall screws – things people need to rebuild in our community”, Coates declared. And where can you pick up these supplies? Steelcore’s Spartanburg location at 849 California Avenue, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. this coming Saturday. Giving is definitely in the air!

Rebuilding Communities Together

But, Steelcore isn’t stopping with their neighborhood alone. In the true spirit of solidarity, once locals have an ample supply, the company plans to truck the rest over to North Carolina. Coates and his team spent laborious three days in North Carolina after Helene hit, assisting those most in need.

According to Coates, it’s hard to sit back when you witness the devastation firsthand. “People don’t really understand the devastation of what has happened in our area,” he said. “Pictures are one thing, videos are another, but seeing it in person is a completely different story”.
