Anderson and Spartanburg Counties Declare Election Results
A significant night in Anderson and Spartanburg counties led to the conclusion of six heated races. Out of these, three saw incumbents returning to their seats victorious, while the rest witnessed a changing of the guard.
Incumbents Reign Supreme
Invigorating the political climate, Freedom Caucus vice chairs and incumbents Josiah Magnuson (R-38) and April Cromer (R-6) emerged triumphant in their reelection battles. Magnuson silenced competition from Democrat JR Taylor and was declared the winner around 9:09 p.m. Bagging an impressive 56% of the votes, Magnuson extended his term as representative for SC House District 38.
Sharing his joys, Magnuson said, “I’m just grateful to God and to the people of our district for another two years to be able to serve.” He added that this victory showcases District 38 as the stronghold of conservative viewpoints.
Race Marked by Tragedy
The SC House District 6 race had a POE-faced start, snuffed by the unfortunate death of Democratic candidate Eric Childs in May. The contest saw Cromer securing a win over Child’s opponent, Tony Wagoner (D). With about 78% of the votes accounted for, Cromer held 73%.
Expressing her thoughts, Cromer said, “I am honored to continue representing the great people of District 6 for another two years. Their voices were heard loud and clear tonight, and I look forward to fighting for our conservative values in Columbia.”
Shifting Gears in Other Races
Elsewhere, a remarkable display of votary support crowned Lee Gilreath (R) the winner over Hunter Savirino (LB) for the SC House District 7 seat. At 9:34 p.m., Gilreath held an impressive 88% of the votes in his corner.
Meanwhile, incumbent Don Chapman (R) retained his seat for SC House District 8, seeing off Jackie Todd (Alliance). At 8:55 p.m., with approximately 50% votes charted, Chapman had secured 87% of them.
In addition, incumbent Brian Lawson (R) won over Ysante McDowell (D) for the SC House District 30 seat. And incumbent Travis A Moore (R) sailed through against Clemson Turregano (D) for SC House District 33.
Unopposed Victories
Notably, the candidates for state House Districts 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, and 37 faced no opposition. This resulted in seamless wins for Rosalyn Henderson-Myers, Scott Montgomery, Sarita Edgerton, Bill Chumley, Rob Harris, and Steven Long.
