New York City is buzzing with excitement as thousands of marketers gather in the vibrant Penn District for this year’s Advertising Week New York. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this four-day extravaganza promises to deliver fresh insights into the latest trends in marketing, including the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), the rise of commerce media, and developments in sports marketing. If you’re part of this vibrant crowd, you’ll want to have your game plan ready!
This year’s event is hosted in a newly restructured venue that was once the bustling Manhattan Mall. With attendance projected to exceed 17,000—up from 15,000 last year—event organizers have taken steps to enhance navigation within the venue. According to Ruth Mortimer, the global president of Advertising Week, the floor plan has been redesigned to create distinct zones for easier exploration. “We hope this makes it a much easier space for people to navigate because it is so big,” she shared.
As you venture into the Penn District, you can find the entrance at 100 West 33rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Herald Square. Friendly greeters and clear signage will help guide you along your way. To get the most out of your experience, Mortimer recommends downloading the Advertising Week app, reviewing it before arriving, and even bookmarking your preferred sessions. The app also includes a Slido feature for audience interactions during panel discussions.
The venue is divided into various themed zones, with a total of 28 content tracks to explore this year. The Leadership Zone, located on the second level, features stages for Great Minds and Insights, as well as a special lounge for CMOs. Also, in response to high demand, Mortimer mentioned that the Great Minds stage has doubled its capacity to accommodate more attendees this year.
The ground floor includes the podcast studio and registration area, while the first lower level morphs into an Entertainment Zone, rich with creativity. Exciting additions this year include the Scale Up Lounge, which focuses on expanding personal brands and businesses. “We’ve incorporated more networking spaces this year because we recognized that people were eager for opportunities to team up and do business,” Mortimer noted.
The lineup this year features fascinating conversations with celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Terry Crews, Lil Jon, Al Roker, and Michael Strahan—expect big crowds for these!
Interestingly, while AI dominated discussions in 2023, it’s taking a step back this year. Mortimer explains, “AI, as a standalone topic, isn’t as prevalent. It’s becoming more integrated into our daily practices.” Commerce media is the hot topic this year, with discussions about how businesses can utilize their high-traffic websites to venture into advertising.
This year’s agenda also includes conversations around upcoming elections and consumer sentiment regarding political advertising. Special events, including private dinners and a lively wrap party at Terminal 5 featuring performances from artists like Eladio Carrión, promise to keep the energy high!
If a full day of networking and panels seems exhausting, don’t worry! This year’s event includes more refreshment stations than ever, with food options from brands like Snapchat, Viant, and Epsilon to fuel the marketing minds on the go.
In summary, Advertising Week New York isn’t just a conference—it’s a dynamic celebration of creativity across the marketing landscape. With a strong focus on emerging trends and real-world applications, it promises plenty of excitement. So gear up, get those bookmarks ready on your app, and prepare to soak in all that this fantastic event has to offer!
