Spartanburg County, South Carolina – In a heartfelt gesture, the Boiling Springs High School community has decided to pay tribute to a teen, the late Ethan Harrell, who tragically lost his life in a UTV crash. The tribute is set to take place during an upcoming football game scheduled on Friday. Ethan, a 16-year-old high school student, was noted to be a passionate and promising athlete.
The unfortunate incident occurred late Sunday, with Ethan being a passenger in a UTV that veered off the right side of the road and subsequently overturned.
Upon commencement of Friday’s game, a tribute to Ethan will take place from the announcer’s booth. School officials revealed their plans to further honor Ethan by having their football team display his baseball jersey number, #5, on their helmets. This gesture is an apparent nod to Ethan’s obvious love for sports, particularly baseball.
Additionally, the team’s wide receiver, who was a close friend to Ethan, will carry his jersey when the team makes their grand entrance onto the field. This symbolic gesture will serve as an intimate memorial to Ethan’s memory, reminding everyone of his spirit and passion.
In a noble act of charity, a family friend, Troy Patterson, will sell commemorative t-shirts during the football game to raise funds. These funds are set to be given to Ethan’s mourning family. This generous act aims to alleviate any financial stresses and provide the family with the means to grieve their tragic loss properly.
Ethan’s tragic death has left a deep impact on the community, and the show of support from his school and friends alike showcases the bond that the teen had built over his years at Boiling Springs High School. From wearing his number on their helmets to raising money for his family, the Boiling Springs community is coming together to remember their friend and classmate during this painful time.
