Just out from Newberry, we’ve got some exciting news on the local sports front! Newberry High School’s very own Bryce Satterwhite revealed last week that he’s committing to the Spartanburg Methodist College baseball team. This local shining star isn’t limited to baseball, he is also a formidable player on his school’s football team.
Satterwhite, a senior at Newberry High, is no stranger to juggling multiple roles in the sports arena. He’s not just part of the Bulldogs football team, but also a key player in their baseball program, showcasing his athleticism and team spirit in both fields. But Bryce doesn’t limit his sports training to the school year. He’s also spending his summers playing with the local American Legion league team, the Chapin Newberry Post 193/24.
Used to being a jack-of-all-trades, Satterwhite has started games in multiple roles for the Bulldogs, showcasing his versatility on and off the field. He’s served as a quarterback, a tight end, and even a punter. But when it comes to baseball, he’s a steadfast catcher, holding down the fort for his team. And it’s this skill set that he’ll be bringing with him to Spartanburg Methodist College.
In a heartfelt post on his Instagram page, Bryce expresses his excitement and gratitude. He writes, “I am blessed to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career to Spartanburg Methodist College. First off I want to thank God, my family, my coaches, my friends and my teammates for always pushing me to be the best I could be. Thank you to everyone who has made a tremendous impact on my life. Thank you Coach Nelson for giving me this opportunity #commited #ROLLNEERS”.
Everyone around Bryce is fully aware of the level of effort and commitment it’s taken for him to get to this point, and the good news of his commitment to Spartanburg Methodist College is a testament to his hard work, perseverance and the solidarity of community and team around him. The teenager’s courage to take on roles as needed in football showcases him to be adaptable and responsive, traits which are going to carry him far in his upcoming collegiate level baseball tenure at Spartanburg.
We’re excited to see what’s next for this rising local sports star. As he transitions from the steadfast colors of the Bulldogs to the proud team at Spartanburg Methodist, we, the community, stand proud and supportive of his new journey and look forward to cheering him on from the sidelines.
