What if I told you the UNC Asheville women’s golf team put on quite the show at the Terrier Intercollegiate Tuesday? And indeed, they did! If you’re a fan of Asheville athletics, you should be proud.
Let’s start with the fabulous fifth finish. Yes!, The Bulldog ladies struck into the top five, wrapping up the tournament in a tie for fifth. In this case, a tie definitely feels like a win. Their 3-round score? A grand total of 934 with rounds of 308, 308, and 318 respectively.
And guess who they tied with? None other than classic Big South rivals, Gardner-Webb. This goes to prove that a little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Plus, it made for some compelling golf!
Moving on to individual honors, big shoutout to Caroline Patterson! She stepped up her game, finishing as runner-up, paving the way for Asheville’s strong performance. Talk about team spirit!
Checking out our competition? The Asheville ladies concluded the tournament ranking higher than Big South companions USC Upstate (who finished 10th) and Presbyterian (who came in at 11th). Leading the pack was Samford with a 3-round score of 904.
Can’t get enough of Bulldog women’s golf? The ladies will be back on the green in no time. Their final fall season tournament is right around the corner on Oct 28-29. An invite-only affair being held at the Mercer Invitational. So keep your calendars marked, fans!
