Pregnancy and new parenthood come with exhilaration and maybe a dash of anxiety about how to do everything right. Don’t fret! Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside is coming to the rescue with an array of insightful classes and events.
First up, their Childbirth Preparation class is set to run on Dec. 9, from 6 – 9 p.m. Learn how to best prepare for this life-altering event and familiarize yourselves with what to expect when the baby comes.
Caring for Your Newborn is another excellent class, taking place Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m., giving new parents practical advice to care for their baby confidently. Reproductive Journey Counseling and Support also offers Navigating Motherhood, a free support group for expectant and fresh parents, providing a comfortable space for moms to share experiences and connect.
Next up, healthy feeding. Bon Secours offers a Breastfeeding Class on Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. to help moms navigate this crucial aspect of a newborn’s care. Spartanburg Medical Center also provides in-person and online e-classes titled Prepared Breastfeeding throughout Nov. and Dec. to make sure parents get the most accurate, beneficial guidance.
To apprentice parents to the hospital’s workings, Bon Secours also provides free OB Hospital Walking Tours while offering classes on Infant Safety in Dec.
But that’s not all. Various external institutes and organizations are also offering significant contributions. Spartanburg Medical Center‘s lineup includes Prepared Parents: Infant Care class in Nov. and Dec. and a free feeding and postpartum support group by Nourish Integrative Lactation and Wellness.
Prisma Health provides a flexible virtual tour of their Greenville Memorial Hospital and several classes, such as the Getting Ready for Baby and a Breastfeeding Class.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Greenville Technical College offers complimentary OB ultrasounds performed by supervised students, providing 4D live scans and 3D pictures.
The Doula Group, intended to encourage natural and comforting birthing experiences, offers various classes, including their Evidence Based Birth Childbirth Class.
The Safe Harbor organization offers support groups and classes for survivors of violence and abuse. Specialized training courses like Back in Control – Parent Enrichment Course and Parenting Wisely – Enrichment Course are available regularly at Just Say Something, including Spanish language versions.
