Converse Heights is a classic American neighborhood. Families enjoy walks on sidewalks along tree-lined streets. Neighborhood children walk to Pine Street Elementary School and, in the afternoons, can be found playing in Happy Hollow Park. Over the years, Converse Heights has been home to many of the city’s civic and business leaders. In fact, neighborhood residents have made their mark far beyond the boundaries of Spartanburg: James F. Byrnes was Secretary of State to President Harry S. Truman, and Roger Milliken, who died in 2011, was an international leader in the textile industry.

Converse Heights is conveniently situated between Downtown and Eastside shopping centers. It’s also a great spot for those who enjoy recreation — Spartanburg’s newly renovated YMCA, public tennis courts and fields at Spartanburg High School, and the popular Cottonwood Trail are all within walking distance.
