Converse University Earns 2024-2025 Military Friendly® School Designations

Commited to Empower Future Leaders

An honor to merit colleges and schools that dedicate resources for the success of military students, the Military Friendly® School designation for 2024-2025 has been earned by the Converse University, Spartanburg, SC. The designation aims to recognize institutions that are committed to the success of veteran and currently-serving military students, both in the classroom and beyond.

The 2024-2025 Military Friendly® School designation recognizes institutions that are supportive and inclusive of students with military backgrounds, with the aim of helping them transition from military to civilian life.

About the Designation

The honour is determined after assessing the responses from a proprietary survey and other publicly available data sources. For the 2024-2025 survey, about 1,800 schools participated, with 537 schools earning special awards for exceeding the standard. Converse University earned recognition at the silver level.

Converse University’s Commitment to Military Students

Converse University, through the words of its President Boone Hopkins, PhD, stated that the university takes pride in serving military and veteran students, given their significant contributions to the country. The university sees alignment with its mission of fostering transformative leaders who act with sincerity, make wisely decisions, and see things clearly with the values adopted by those who have adopted a path of service through military service.

The university lately has strengthened staffing and services to support military members and veterans, ranging from credit assessment for prior learning to efforts to foster financial aid, retention, academic success, and career counseling.

For its dedicated efforts, Converse recently received more than $1 million in philanthropic funds to revitalize its Converse II Program for adult learners and enhance services for veterans, thanks to a partnership with Movement 2030.

The Method Behind the Designation

The institutions’ survey scores were used in combination with the evaluation of the capacity of the institution to meet thresholds for Job Placement, Student Retention, Graduation, Loan Default rates, Loan Repayment, and Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) for all students and, specifically, for student veterans to determine the final ratings.

Additional Recognition

Furthermore, Converse University also earned the 2024-2025 Military Spouse Friendly® School designation, setting up a high bar for higher education institutions to provide the best education experiences for the spouses of service members.
