About Credit Card Skimmers
Credit card skimmers are devices illegally installed on card readers, such as ATMs or gas pumps, to steal the information stored on the cards. Typically, these devices are small and inconspicuous, making them difficult to detect by unsuspecting consumers.
However, authorities urge that simple precautionary measures, like checking card readers for loose parts before use or shielding your pin while entering it, can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to skimmers. Public awareness about the existence and operation of these devices is an essential aspect of deterring such fraudulent activities within the community.
