If you’re in Spartanburg, chances are you’ve started to noticed some road closures popping up here and there. But it’s not a cause for concern – it’s a cause for celebration! The City of Spartanburg has just started making preparations for the anticipated ‘Dickens of a Christmas’ event set to kick off in the downtown area tonight.
Planned to run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the festive event is a nod to the delightful tradition of celebrating Christmas in a style reminiscent of the era portrayed in Charles Dicken’s popular novel, ‘A Christmas Carol’. Road closures aimed at making the event safe and manageable began yesterday afternoon around 3 p.m. and have focused on areas in and around the parking lot between Smith Drugs and White Oak Management.
Earlier this morning, around 11:30 a.m. the southbound lane of Church Street was closed off from St. John Street to Dunbar Street. But don’t worry, this is all temporary. Officials have reassured residents and visitors alike that all roads will be back to normal and reopened by 11:30 p.m. tonight, once the event concludes.
If you’re unsure about the road closures or have any questions, just give a quick call to Lt. McClure at (864) 909-5946. And for those curious about the event itself, the Special Events Office is ready to answer all your queries. You can reach them at (864) 596-3105.
In other exciting news, the color of the year ‘Mocha Mousse’ is turning heads and becoming a top favorite. Representing an intersection of color and culture, this selection by industry giant Pantone is sure to influence fashion, design and more over the next 12 months. There’s something incredibly warm and inviting about it, wouldn’t you say?
Meanwhile, for those gearing up for the holiday season, electric fireplaces are fast becoming the rage in many households. Apart from being super easy to install and operate, these modern, innovative fireplaces help bring that wintry, cozy ambience to homes without the mess and effort of traditional wood-burning fireplaces.
As we all know, nothing sets off the holiday spirit quite as fabulously as fresh decorations. And funnily enough, many stores, including favorites like Michaels, have already started offering massive discounts on their wreaths and garlands. So whether you’re eager to transform your home into a winter wonderland, or you’re planning to attend ‘Dickens of a Christmas’, it seems the holiday season is definitely off to a great start!
