GAFFNEY, – The Diesel Power and Emerging Technologies program at Spartanburg Community College (SCC) received a generous gift this spring from Benore Logistic Systems – four 18-wheeler trucks. With SCC being the first higher education institute in the state offering a diesel power program, the donated trucks will provide students with hands-on training and invaluable practical experience.
The program at SCC aims to help impart all-encompassing knowledge about diesel-powered heavy machinery like 18-wheeler trucks and high-grade equipment. To simulate a real working environment, mechanized training forms a considerable part of the curriculum. Until now, the school had a limited number of these trucks, which required rotation among students. The fresh addition of four vehicles from Benore Logistic Systems will now allow a more comprehensive and unhindered hands-on session for students.
Considering the enormous cost and maintenance associated with 18-wheeler trucks, multiple schools hesitate in investing in these vehicles solely for training purposes. Therefore, the donation from Benore Logistic Systems bears a staggering value, coming as a much-welcomed surprise for the institution and students alike.
Benore Logistic Systems is a well-known supply chain and logistic services company operating since 1994. Their operations spread across several states, making them a reputable name in the industry. Therefore, their association with the Spartanburg Community College yet again highlights their commitment towards community development.
The donation is more than just the addition of four physical trucks – it represents the capability of acquiring practical knowledge in a much more proficient manner. This new resource empowers the students to apply their theoretical knowledge while physically handling and servicing the trucks. Thus, students can better understand the intricate mechanical details and the overall functioning.
Moreover, the inclusion of these trucks also enhances future prospects for the program itself. It sets a precedence, showing other potential businesses and organizations how they can support practical learning and contribute to the community’s growth.
As the first to offer a diesel power program, SCC has paved the way for other institutions to follow suit. By ensuring comprehensive practical exposure along with theoretical knowledge, the college is focussed on nurturing future diesel experts. Keeping the industry’s ever-evolving requirements in mind, SCC’s curriculum promotes a thorough understanding of diesel-powered machinery, serving as a step toward creating competent professionals. The generous donation by Benore Logistic Systems significantly enhances this mission.
