Heartbreaking Tragedy Strikes Spartanburg: Three Dorman High School Students Lose Lives in Crash

Spartanburg, South Carolina, is mourning after a devastating car accident claimed the lives of three young students from Dorman High School on April 22. The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. at a busy intersection where Fairforest Clevedale Road meets Old Blackstock Road. The incident has left the community in shock and sorrow as they grapple with the sudden loss of these vibrant young lives.

The Scene of the Accident

On that fateful day, a 2004 Dodge pickup truck, a 2010 Chevrolet coupe, and a tractor-trailer found themselves tangled in a tragic collision. The tractor-trailer was attempting to make a left turn onto Old Blackstock Road when disaster struck. At the same time, the Dodge pickup truck, which was carrying three teenagers, was traveling west on Old Blackstock Road and collided with the trailer of the truck. Unfortunately, this collision turned fatal for the passengers in the pickup.

The Young Lives Lost

The victims have been identified as 15-year-old Daniel Diaz and 16-year-old Aben Sisk, both of whom died on the spot. A third teenager, 17-year-old Itzel Garcia-Trejo, was rushed to Spartanburg Medical Center but sadly succumbed to her injuries later on. They were all students at Dorman High School, and their untimely deaths have left a void that will be felt by many.

A Community in Mourning

The Spartanburg County Coroner, Rusty Clevenger, confirmed the tragic fate of these young individuals. Meanwhile, the Spartanburg County School District Six expressed profound sorrow over this heartbreaking incident. The school community, which had already been grieving the loss of another student less than two weeks prior, is now facing another layer of grief. Students and staff at Dorman High School are being provided with counseling and support services to help them navigate through this exceptionally tough time.

Injuries and Ongoing Investigation

In addition to the three students who tragically lost their lives, there was a fourth vehicle involved—the Chevrolet coupe. The sole occupant of this vehicle sustained injuries and was promptly taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for treatment. The resilience of the Spartanburg community is on display as they rally around all those affected by this unfortunate event, offering support and assistance where needed.

Road Safety Awareness

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heart-wrenching crash. The community is reminded of the importance of road safety and being vigilant while driving, as accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. The tragic loss of these three young lives emphasizes the need for awareness and caution on the roads.

Moving Forward Together

As the community of Spartanburg comes to terms with this devastating loss, there is a collective sense of support and understanding among residents. Together, they are finding ways to honor the memory of these young students and provide solace to their friends and families. It’s a time for togetherness and healing as everyone navigates this difficult chapter in their lives.

In closing, the loss of Daniel, Aben, and Itzel serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. As the dust settles from this heartbreaking incident, the community is coming together to support one another through their grief. There are lessons to be learned from this tragedy, and hopefully, no other family will have to endure a similar loss.
