Hey folks, if you’re from Spartanburg, South Carolina, have we got some news for you! The center of the town you know and love is going to get a complete makeover, courtesy of a new design planned for Morgan Square. This big change is just waiting for the final nod from the city’s Design Review Board. And if they give it a thumbs up, construction is set to kick off in the spring of 2025.
Try to picture this – a pavilion set up along Church Street housing public restrooms, a storage building, and even a visitors’ information center. Just imagine, Dunbar Street and Main Street would be car-free zones between Church Street and Magnolia Street, opening up space for pedestrians to roam freely. West Main Street has been closed to vehicles since May 2020 – a step initially taken to accommodate outdoor seating for restaurants while we were grappling with the coronavirus pandemic.
But wait, that’s not all! There’s more green to look forward to. Remember the plan first unveiled in August 2023? Well, the design has been tweaked a few times since then. Gone is the water feature originally part of the plan. Instead, we’re getting two distinct green areas – aptly named the “Upper Green” and “Lower Green”. Progress, right?
One really cool thing about this planned transformation is the amount of input folks living in the community have been able to provide. Over the past couple of years, public workshops have been held, allowing the good people of Spartanburg to weigh in on the design plans. And this just goes to show how important everyone’s voice is when it comes to shaping the place we call home.
Now, all eyes are on the Spartanburg Design Review Board. Their meeting on December 3, to be held at the TK Gregg Community Center located on Howard Street, is the one where they will decide on the approval of these plans. It’s certainly a wait-and-see situation, but fingers crossed, they give the go-ahead for this exciting project.
While we’re on the topic of fresh starts and changes, here’s a fun piece of holiday info for you. Thinking about brightening up your home for the upcoming festive season? Then now’s a great time to grab a new wreath or garland. Big discounts are on offer – so, it’s the perfect time to bring in a little holiday cheer.
Also, ever heard of the Christmas pickle tradition? It’s actually a thing for many families and could be something fun and new to introduce to ours, especially if you’ve got little ones running around. It’s always nice to switch things up and create new traditions, don’t you think?
Finally, Cyber Monday deals for 2024 have rolled out. Browse through and grab the best deals on TVs, headphones, laptops, vacuums, mattresses, beauty products, and much more.
So, that’s about it, folks! Stay tuned for more news and updates, and remember, change is not just coming – it’s here, and it’s exciting!
