In a fresh update from Spartanburg, South Carolina, the United States Department of Justice has announced the sentencing of nine individuals involved in a massive drug trafficking ring. The prosecuted individuals pleaded guilty to participating in and aiding an illegal drug trafficking organization, involved in distributing a range of illicit drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin.
The Mid-Level Suppliers
Among the sentenced is 53-year-old Terrance Bobo, a critical supply link based out of Georgia. Starting his unlawful activities in 2013, Bobo played a major role in spreading the tentacles of the drug network, handling the distribution of more than 190 kilograms of potent narcotics. Terrance Bobo cleverly operated his real estate business, All in One, LLC, as a front to successfully hide the illegal operations and launder drug money.
In addition to his real estate front, Bobo, along with another co-defendant, purchased a car garage/repair shop at a prominent local address, 501 Textile Road. As of 2021, Michael Jacobs, aged 40, ran the repair shop and also spearheaded the Spartanburg-based drug distribution ring. Other significant players in the illegal drug trade, Maurice Canty (48), James Foster (61), Jahid Warden (29) and Daniel Gregory (43) joined forces to manage their individual meth and fentanyl sales.
Gregory, an integral member of the team, began collaborating with Jacobs after Canty and Foster’s arrest in 2023. Kevin Jeter, 49, was another important cog in the wheel, acting as a prominent sub-distributor of fentanyl and cocaine, responsible for trafficking more than 50 kilograms of cocaine.
The Sub-Distributors
Another player on this drug-fueled stage was Danny Goode, aged 46, apprehended during a traffic stop in October 2023. Judgment day came for Goode when he obtained a significant quantity of cocaine (more than four ounces) from Jacobs for further distribution.
Mention must be made of Shuler Holmes (39), a sub-distributor who was caught with large quantities of methamphetamine and opioids. Upon searching his premises, the law enforcement made significant discoveries. Apart from a large stash of drugs, they also found a firearm. The search also led to the detention of two more culprits, Jacobs and Bobo.
The Consequences and Punishments
The authorities were successful in seizing substantial assets from the prosecuted defendants. A total of $510,270 cash was seized from Jacobs and $33,720 from Bobo, along with multiple bank accounts. Not only just for illegal drug trafficking, the court also held Bobo, Jacobs, and Canty guilty of money laundering. The judge went a step further, pronouncing judicial forfeiture orders regarding numerous properties and vehicles owned by the convicts.
In total, the sentences for the defendants combined equaled an astonishing 1,247 months. The terms include court-ordered supervision for all of the defendants, to ensure the successful implementation of the punishments.
Such a bust represents a significant victory for law enforcement in their perpetual battle against illicit drug trafficking – a menacing troublemaker that casts a shadow across communities across South Carolina and the entire country.
