Thursday, July 11, 2024, Spartanburg, SC – The very first ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham celebrated its grand opening in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This marks a significant achievement for the brand that has successfully grown its development pipeline to almost 270 hotels and more than 33,000 rooms throughout the U.S. and Canada. In the light of many infrastructure projects lined up for the country in the next decade, further ECHO Suites are set to be launched in Texas and Virginia later this year.
Philip Cox, the owner of ECHO Suites Spartanburg, conveyed his satisfaction with the project, stating, “Spartanburg, like many other cities around the country, is booming with projects that require long-term, comfortable, and affordable stays. ECHO Suites offer a well-designed prototype created with the operator in mind, complemented with the collaboration with the world’s largest hotel franchisor, making it a perfect match.”
Coordination with the historic infrastructure investments in the U.S., which includes the $1.2 trillion approved funding under the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Act, the grand opening indeed spells great news for both Wyndham and the regular business traveler. With necessity rising for long-term accommodations for construction and other workers, Wyndham franchisees are expected to seize a $3.3 billion opportunity in additional room revenue over the multi-year period of expense.
Using less than two acres of land, the state-of-the-art, all new-construction, 124-room ECHO Suites have been designed with today’s traveler in mind. The prototype, guarding 79% of its revenue-generating space, measures approximately 50,000 square feet, and ensures the costs per key remain highly competitive. Each suite offers single- or two-queen studio suites with kitchens and public spaces that are designed to help limit labor requirements.
Keeping a leading presence in the white-hot extended-stay segment, Wyndham has also introduced a new member to its esteemed team. Mandeep Singh, with more than two decades of international experience in extended-stay hotels, corporate housing, serviced apartments, and multi-family properties, has joined Wyndham as Vice President, Extended Stay Operations. With Singh in charge, Wyndham’s growing portfolio of extended-stay brands with focus on ECHO Suites is poised for steady growth.
Krishna Paliwal, President, Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham and Head of Architecture, Design and Construction at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, comments, “There’s enormous potential in the extended-stay segment, and the opening of our first ECHO Suites in Spartanburg is an exciting example of us delivering on that opportunity to our owners. With the addition of Mandeep Singh, we’re reinforcing our commitment to our Owner First philosophy as we continue to grow ECHO Suites to meet the needs of today’s guests.”
Following its successful launch in Spartanburg, the brand intends to have 75 hotels open or under construction by the end of 2026 and 300 open hotels by 2032.
