Election Results: Incumbents Secure Wins in Anderson and Spartanburg Counties

Election Battles in Anderson and Spartanburg Counties

In the vibrant counties of Anderson and Spartanburg, local residents held their breath as the night unfolded, with three contested races each, waiting till the last vote was counted to know who will be leading them for the next two years.

House District 38 Race

The first among several nail-biting races saw Freedom Caucus vice chair and incumbent, Josiah Magnuson (R-38), securing his reelection. Facing off Democrat JR Taylor in the race for the SC House District 38, Magnuson emerged the winner with about 56 percent of the vote counted, as of 9:09 p.m.

“I’m just grateful to God and to the people of our district for another two years to be able to serve,” Magnuson expressed. “I think the tremendous victory goes to show that District 38 is a strong conservative bastion, and we’re going to continue to fight for our state and our country and preserve our traditional family values.”

The Democrat contender, Taylor, was unavailable to make a comment about the election results on Tuesday night.

House District 6 Race

Not far behind was another compelling race in SC House District 6, albeit tinged with a hint of sadness. The untimely demise of Democratic candidate Eric Childs earlier in May cast a pall over the race. However, the electoral process marched on with Child’s opponent, April Cromer (R-6), another vice chair of the Freedom Caucus and incumbent, clinching the victory against Tony Wagoner (D). Winning an estimated 73% votes with 78% of the total vote counted by 10:40 p.m., Cromer appeared to be the citizen’s polar choice.

“I am honored to continue representing the great people of District 6 for another two years,” Cromer declared, “Their voices were heard loud and clear tonight, and I look forward to fighting for our conservative values in Columbia.”

Wagoner remained unavailable to provide any comments regarding the results on the night of the election.

House Districts 7, 8, 30, 33

Other races across Anderson and Spartanburg ended in favor of incumbents. Lee Gilreath (R) comfortably won the SC House District 7 against Hunter Savirino (LB), with a dominant 88 percent of the vote, while Don Chapman (R) was reelected for SC House District 8, defeating Jackie Todd (Alliance) with a compelling 87 percent vote. The SC House District 30 race had Brian Lawson (R) beat Ysante McDowell, capturing 79% of the votes, and Travis A Moore (R) declared the winner against Clemson Turregano (D) for SC House District 33 with 76% of the votes.

Uncontested Races

Not to be overlooked, state House Districts 31, 32, 34, 35, 36 and 37 saw candidates running unopposed. The winners here are Rosalyn Henderson-Myers, Scott Montogomery, Sarita Edgerton, Bill Chumley, Rob Harris, and Steven Long.

The voters in Anderson and Spartanburg have concluded another round of electoral participation and expressed their democratic choice. The elected leaders now look forward to honoring their commitment to preserve the core values and interests of their constituents, leading these districts into the future with courage and conviction.
