Election Workers Needed in Upstate South Carolina!
Good news, Spartanburg County! There’s an opportunity to pull up your sleeves and get stuck into something meaningful. It seems there’s a real need for election workers across Upstate. Almost every county is calling out for a bit of help, to ensure everything goes without a hitch come Election Day. And guess what? You just might be the right person for the job!
A man named John Baucom, who’s a bit of a big shot around these parts as the Spartanburg County director of voter registration and elections, said some pretty inspiring words: “Poll managers are the heart and soul of our Election Day voting.” He went on to say that without these poll managers, voters wouldnโt be able to go to their precinct polling place. So, think of it as a civic duty; a way to show your love for the community.
Join the Bandwagon, Your Community Needs You!
It takes a small army of volunteers to pull off a smooth voting day. Baucom mentioned that thereโs no such thing as too many volunteers, particularly during a presidential election. And the best part? Anybody could be a volunteer. You could be just sweet 16 or 17 and ready to make a difference. Experience isnโt needed, and the county will show you the ropes with some helpful training.
The state shows its appreciation too, by allowing up to 1,300 volunteers to receive $135 for their training and dedication on Election Day. The great news is they already have around 700 signed up, but could use a few hundred more of you good folks. So, if it’s something that tickles your fancy, consider stepping up!
How to Sign Up?
Pretty easy. If you’re ready to lend a hand, all you need to do is fill out a poll manager application form. It sounds quite official, right? But don’t sweat it, it’s just a form.
Remember folks, every little helps and makes a huge difference. This is your chance to be part of something bigger and ensure that your friends, family, and neighbors can enjoy a smooth voting experience. So, go on, consider joining this volunteer army and let’s make this Election Day a grand success together!
Oh, and not to confuse you with too many things, but since it’s that time of the year, we do have a few suggestions for some fun fall activities like decking out your porch with festive garland and artificial pumpkins to get into that autumn spirit. And if you’re feeling classy, how about crafting a perfect fall charcuterie board for a cozy evening! But remember, these are just fun things you do afterward to celebrate your newly minted civic duties!
