We here in Spartanburg, District 3, have had an eventful week. We’ve seen the 5th-grade news team from New Cannons Elementary School explore the wonders of live TV, marked our calendars for both Dia de Muertos and National Croc Day, and started thinking about winterizing our homes. So, let’s get to the meat of these exciting happenings, shall we?
First off, the fascinating world of live television just got a bit closer to home for our enthusiastic 5th-grade news team from New Cannons Elementary School. They had the fantastic opportunity to observe and learn from a live TV show. Doing the news in front of their classmates has given them quite the experience, but this studio visit has undoubtedly added to their perspectives.
They’re now able to see first-hand how professionals handle the pressure and perform in real-time. It’s a huge leap from their usual audience of fellow students, but this exposure will surely boost their confidence and skills. Stay tuned for their upcoming segments-we are sure to see some impressive advancements from our young newscasters!
Now, let’s turn our attention to a different sort of event. Dia de Muertos, or The Day of the Dead, is just around the corner. This festive holiday, rich in culture and symbolism, is being marked in quite a unique way. The beloved toy manufacturing giant, Mattel, has released two new dolls specially designed to celebrate the day.
These aren’t your regular dolls, folks. Keeping true to the spirit of Dia de Muertos, these new release dolls are colorful, vibrant, and beautifully crafted to reflect the very essence of the holiday. What a fabulous way to teach our kids about other cultures and traditions!
