Fatal Car Crash on SC 417 Claims Life of 67-Year-Old Man

DISASTER STRIKES ON SC 417

Residents of Spartanburg County, South Carolina experienced an unfortunate tragedy on Monday afternoon when a fatal car crash occurred, leading to the tragic demise of one person. The fatal accident happened in the late afternoon hours on the well-traveled SC 417, in the proximity of Chicken Foot Creek Road.

DETAILS OF THE ACCIDENT

The tragic incident involved two vehicles. A 2008 Buick Lucerne was moving northbound on the highway when it was hit head-on by a 2008 Kia Sport SUV driving southbound. The investigators reveal that the wreck occurred as the Kia crossed over the centerline and collided with the Buick. The impact was severe, leaving the passengers in the Buick, as well as one passenger in the Kia, injured. They were immediately taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center to receive urgent medical care.

Unfortunately, the driver of the Kia didn’t survive the accident. Identified as Eddie Lee Bellew, a 67-year-old man from Greer, was pronounced dead at scene at 4:11 p.m. A forensic exam is set for Tuesday to determine further details related to the tragic incident.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

The exact cause of why the Kia crossed the centerline remains under investigation. The local law enforcement is working meticulously to collect all the available evidence and eye-witness testimonies to shed more light onto the case. The investigation is still ongoing.

For all those familiar with the scenic SC 417 highway, the accident serves as a somber moment. That everyone, even those one sees driving by on an ordinary day, can suffer such misfortunes is a reminder of the fragility of life and an urgent call for adherence to safety rules on our roads.
