The design plans for the new Fidelity Bank regional office in downtown Spartanburg received preliminary approval in a recent board meeting. The board granted the bank numerous exceptions, including for it drive-thru, parking area, window percentage, frontage build-out, and street trees placement. This brings the financial institution another step closer towards having a regional office situated in the heart of Spartanburg.
Plans for the bank’s design were initially presented to theDesign Review Board on July 2, but a verdict was postponed to enable the applicant, Brian Murdoch, senior vice president and market executive at Fidelity Bank in Spartanburg, to return with a landscaping plan and an architectural design model that closely aligns with the city’s requirements for pedestrian-forward urban design.
Fidelity Bank confirmed purchasing the project site located at 305 N. Church Street, in June 2023. Their blueprint entails creating an 8,400-square-feet, two-story bank that will encompass drive-thru and walk-in services, offices, and training facilities. The approved designs highlight a 16-foot wide plaza featuring shade trees adjacent to the Church Street entrance. The plans also cover a concealed drive-thru, tucked parking area, equipped with a bike rack and a sunroom-style, one-story office wing to help meet the 60% window percentage requirements in line with downtown facades.
Now that they have procured initial approval, the bank intends to commence demolition on the site, formerly a First Citizen Bank, promptly. Murdoch expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We’re pleased we’ll be able to build a nice regional branch office in downtown Spartanburg. Looking forward to getting started as soon as we can.”
Fidelity Bank is committed to delivering professional banking and financial solutions to the regional community. Their new regional office will further enhance the bank’s ability to provide tailored banking services to target demographics, and to deliver on its commitment to contributing to the growth and development of the regional economy.
With its strategic location in downtown Spartanburg, the bank is perfectly positioned to serve a blend of businesses, individuals, and institutions with an array of banking and financial services. The establishment of their regional office assures clientele of Fidelity Bank’s continued presence and active participation in supporting Spartanburg’s economy.
