First Whataburger in Spartanburg breaks ground

Overview

Spartanburg, South Carolina— Fast-food chain Whataburger has laid the first brick at its Spartanburg location. This new venue, expected to open in the fall, will be situated at 1941 E Main St. The chain’s commencement of construction is a milestone for the Texas-based company, marking its inaugural foray into the Spartanburg market.

A Welcome Arrival

Whataburger’s arrival has been warmly welcomed by residents, according to the Growth Market Leader, Preston Hughes. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response to our impending presence in Spartanburg”, he stated. Hughes added, “This groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes the commencement of our journey to serve Spartanburg’s local people with our unique, fresh flavors.”

Dual Locations

Apart from this, Whataburger is concurrently planning for a second Spartanburg site, anticipated to break ground soon and open later in the fall. These two Spartanburg venues are part of Whataburger’s expansion tourism campaign in South Carolina, following the groundbreaking of the first location in Greenville.

Expanding Presence

Whataburger’s expansion into Spartanburg marks a significant step in the chain’s mission to extend its distinctive burger experience across the borders of its original Texas home. Well-known for its large, customizable burgers, the chain has been a Texan staple since its founding in 1950.

Community Impact

The forthcoming Whataburger locations are expected to positively impact the local economy through the creation of new jobs and increased commercial activity. Details about the number of jobs to be created or the economic impact are yet to be confirmed by the company.

Looking Forward

As Spartanburg residents await the opening of the new locations with bated breath, the excitement marks a new chapter for the town and Whataburger. As the company continues to spread its roots across state lines, it remains to be seen how this renowned Texan enterprise will strengthen its legacy in new markets, starting with Spartanburg.
