Freddy’s Burger Chain Set to Open 10 New Locations in Spartanburg and Greenville by 2031

Freddy’s Burger Chain Expands in Spartanburg, Greenville

Spartanburg, SC – Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, a popular American fast-casual restaurant chain, announced on August 27 that they are set to expand their presence in Spartanburg and Greenville counties. According to the multi-unit development agreement, 10 new locations will be established in the two counties with the first restaurant all set to open its doors by 2025. The goal is to have all 10 locations operational by 2031.

A Perfect Fit for the Growing Community

Franchise operator, Brett Rickert, said in an email that the rapid growth and expansion observed in Spartanburg and Greenville counties make them a “perfect fit” for Freddy’s expansion strategy. “The two counties are rapidly growing communities and house great opportunities to place ourselves in areas near a wide variety of retail businesses and restaurants with a steady flow of traffic,” Rickert explained. Rickert, a resident of Upstate, is very excited about the upcoming expansion of Freddy’s in his local area.

The Unique Offerings by Freddy’s

Freddy’s has created a unique niche for itself among food lovers with its signature offerings of cooked-to-order steakburgers, all-beef hot dogs, shoestring fries, and more. However, what sets them apart is their freshly churned frozen custard treats that have become a crowd favorite.

Who’s Involved in the Expansion?

The expansion efforts of Freddy’s are going to be led by GVL Hospitality Group, an experienced player in the restaurant industry. Brett Rickert and Brian Stevens, longtime business partners, will take the reins of this expansion, with Rickert serving as the operating partner for training and management, while Stevens will be responsible for site selection and construction aspects. In addition, NFL offensive lineman Ben Powers, guard for the Denver Broncos, is also contributing to these expansion efforts. A reassuring force for the project, Powers expressed his complete trust in the leadership of Brett and Brian.

The Growth Story of Freddy’s

Freddy’s has had a compelling growth story in recent years. The company has already established 11 restaurants across South Carolina with most of them in the Midlands. Over the past few years, the company has expanded its footprint in the Charleston area in 2021, and have opened new locations in Myrtle Beach and North Augusta in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Looking Forward

Founded in 2002 in Wichita by brothers Bill and Randy Simon alongside their business partner Scott Redler, Freddy’s has grown significantly over the years to run over 530 locations across 36 states in the nation. The company plans to open more than 130 new locations in 2025.

Brett Rickert highlighted that while expansion is the focus, the consistent restaurant experience remains as one of the top priorities. “Whether you’re visiting a Freddy’s in your neighborhood or in another part of the area, we want to serve our guests their menu favorites prepared and presented with the same great taste every time,” he said.
