As the holiday season rolls around, folks in the Upstate region are stepping up to make a difference in their communities. It’s that time of year when giving back becomes a heartwarming staple, and various local toy drives and charitable giving initiatives are encouraging everyone to join in the spirit of generosity. With a little help from our friends, we can spread joy and happiness to those in need.
Starting with a fantastic initiative, the Carolina Family Service has set up a Holiday Giving Toy Store at 17 Memorial Medical Drive in Greenville. This is the perfect stop for anyone looking to make a difference this holiday season. You can drop off your donations, whether they be toys, gifts for all ages, gift cards, crafting kits, or sporting equipment. The Holiday Giving Toy Store is open for donations Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is closed Friday through Sunday, so make sure to plan your visit!
Mark your calendars! The Leo Santa’s Toy Drive at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena is happening from December 5 at 6 a.m. to December 6 at 10 a.m. This is a super fun event where you can drop off new, unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to 12 years. On December 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., you can even tour first responder vehicles and snap some photos with Santa while you’re there. What a joyful way to give back!
On December 21 at 1 p.m., don’t miss out on the Fast and Loud Toy Drive hosted by the A Bountiful Hand Foundation at 505 White Horse Road in Greenville. This event is calling all toy enthusiasts to drop off toys, games, bikes, shoes, coats, and even candy for the children. It’s a great way to unload some of that holiday spirit!
If you are looking for a fun way to contribute, swing by Kid Kitchen at 1601 W Blue Ridge Drive in Greenville. Their Christmas Hope Toy Drive runs through December 7 and is collecting all sorts of goodies including large teddy bears, baby toys, basketballs, soccer balls, dolls, games, puzzles, and art sets. What a perfect chance to clear out some space for the holiday mayhem while putting a smile on a child’s face!
The good-hearted folks at Spartanburg County EMS are also in on the action with a toy drive for Toys for Tots. They are seeking unwrapped toys by December 10 at 525 Union Street. And if you head over to Spartanburg Honda at 500 East Daniel Morgan Ave, you can snag a raffle ticket for a prize with each toy donation. They are accepting donations Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday to Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., but they’re closed on Sundays. So don’t miss out!
There’s more! A Christmas Toy Drive is taking place until December 9 at various locations including Heli-Plan Aviation Group (735 Michelin Blvd, Anderson) and Cycle Specialties Performance (3401 Wade Hampton Blvd, Taylors). Meanwhile, Logan’s Roadhouse in Anderson is hosting their own Christmas Toy Drive until December 8 to bring joy to children affected by Hurricane Helene. Make sure to drop off those new unwrapped gifts so families can feel supported during these challenging times.
Finally, don’t forget about the Clemson RV Park at 150 Dalton Drive, Pendleton, which is collecting toys for Asheville children affected by Hurricane Helene until December 9. Lastly, check out the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office “No Angel Left Behind” program running through December 13, which allows for shopping from home by way of an Amazon wish list.
