Spectrum Internet and Cable Customers Still Without Service Post-Hurricane Helene

Hey there, folks. Coming to you live from Spartanburg, we’ve got an update regarding the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Tens of thousands of Spectrum internet and cable users across the Upstate and western North Carolina still find themselves without service, even days following the hurricane’s wrath.

According to Charter Communications, they have managed to restore Spectrum’s services to a majority of affected customers in all but five counties around the Upstate. However, the restoration has not been without bumps, with some repairs taking the team just a bit longer than initially expected.

What’s Causing the Delay?

Wondering why you still can’t tune into your favorite show or check your emails? Well, the repairs on the company’s network have come across a few snags on the road to full restoration. The significant damage to their facility, coupled with the extra time needed to safely access and work in the most ravaged areas, hasn’t helped. Plus, the need to make further repairs after local construction has reportedly set them back a tad.

Looking on the bright side, the company’s aiming to restore service to locations with power that are safe to access by October 21. It’s in the works, folks, just hang in there! Further, they’re keeping customer communication channels blazing, offering updated estimated completion dates based on their location.

By the Numbers

According to a dashboard setup by Spectrum to keep their customers up-to-date with the restoration process, as of Wednesday afternoon, some 31,350 customers were still in need of restoration. In Spartanburg County alone, we’re talking over 10,000 affected customers; Greenville County is not far behind with over 14,000 folks still without service.

Meanwhile, in western North Carolina, the disruption persists with more than 37,316 customers in the dark. Buncombe County seems to bear the brunt, housing the largest numbers of those affected.

What Next?

If you’re one of those eagerly waiting to flick on your TV or surf the web, pay attention. The company advises that if your service hasn’t been restored by October 21, you should reach out to them, so they can address any residual issues.

All the best, Spartanburg! May your screens light up and your connections buzz back to life soon! Until the next time, stay safe and stay tuned.
