CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — State officials revealed on Saturday that all four inmates who escaped from a local jail on October 15 have been captured. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Saturday.
The last two escapees, identified as Deshawn Malik Fox and Kyonne Marquise McLeod, were apprehended by Darlington Police on Friday. They now face multiple charges, including trespassing, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana.
Prior to their capture, another inmate, Anton Conway Bennett, was taken into custody on October 17 in Halifax County, North Carolina. The Roanoke Rapids Police Department was responsible for this arrest.
The fourth inmate, Emanuel Robson Planco, was arrested on the same day in Richland County after a brief police chase. Authorities reported that he was seen breaking into vehicles at the Greenbrier Apartments in the Dentsville area.
While the inmates are back in custody, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating how they managed to escape from the facility. The circumstances surrounding the jailbreak remain unclear, and officials have not yet released specific details about their escape route.
The escape of these inmates raised concerns within the Chesterfield County community, prompting local law enforcement to reassure residents about their safety. SLED and local police worked collaboratively to locate the inmates quickly. The culmination of these efforts emphasizes the importance of community vigilance and law enforcement communication.
Local authorities have expressed relief at the swift resolution to this case, underscoring their commitment to maintaining public safety. Several police departments across South Carolina played a role in the pursuit of the escapees, demonstrating an effective network of law enforcement collaborating to resolve situations that pose risks to community safety.
With all four escapees apprehended, Chesterfield County officials hope to provide peace of mind to residents. The ongoing investigation into their escape continues, promising to shed light on how the incident occurred. Further updates from law enforcement are expected as they work to tighten security measures to prevent future incidents.
