Residents of Spartanburg County have a fresh and invigorating reason to celebrate as Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), a world-renowned provider of hot and cold beverages, has announced an eye-catching $141 million expansion plan for their operations in the area. The announcement was made on September 17 and is music to the ears of local job seekers as the substantial investment is projected to create an impressive 84 new roles in the community.
The new facility, located at 3220 Moore Duncan Highway in Moore, will primarily be used to produce KDP’s advanced next-generation K-Rounds. But what exactly are these K-Rounds? Well, they’re essentially plastic-free coffee pods that are filled to the brim with meticulously ground coffee beans and ensconced in a plant-based protective coating. Besides ensuring a delightful coffee experience, these pods are a significant stride on KDP’s journey towards sustainability and eco-friendliness.
“With this new investment, the KDP facility in Spartanburg will remain a key site representing our manufacturing and production innovation,” stated Keurig Dr Pepper Chief Supply Chain Officer Roger Johnson. The executive further conveyed the company’s gratitude towards the state of South Carolina and the county of Spartanburg for their excellent support as KDP continues its growth in the region.
This isn’t KDP’s first whirl with expansion in Spartanburg County. The other KDP facility in the county, which kick-started in 2019 and continued its development till October 2023, is in the business of producing their popular K-Cup pods. This site also plays a significant role in the local economy, providing employment to 285 folks from the community.
With KDP’s new investment, the future seems brighter and a lot more exciting for both the workforce and avid coffee lovers of Spartanburg County. The local economy is set to gain significantly, with job creation and increased business activities on the horizon. Additionally, the eco-friendly K-Rounds promise not only a delightful beverage experience but also provide an avenue for consumers to do their bit for the environment.
In sum, Keurig Dr Pepper’s $141 million investment not only reaffirms their commitment to Spartanburg County but also sets new benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing in the beverage industry. It’s a commendable initiative and one that resonates with the growing demand for environmentally-friendly products in our daily lives.
