Located in the vibrant heart of downtown Spartanburg, the much-awaited reopening of the neighborhood gem, Main Street Pub, occurred on April 11. After being shut down for three months to facilitate extensive refurbishments, the pub is better than ever with a larger space, modern facilities, and a broader menu.
Owner Raj Patel expressed how the transformation aimed to retain the Main Street Pub’s original allure while enhancing its aesthetics and functionality. “The goal was not only to preserve the charm of the Main Street Pub but to expand on it,” he emphasized.
The enhancements began from the ground up. Each feature, from the furniture to the plumbing, is brand new. Notably, the pub has multiplied its kitchen space, allowing it to house top-of-the-line cooking equipment. An impressive, 180-foot bar, reminiscent of the original but of a more conventional height, graces the revamped pub. The seating capacity has nearly tripled, now accommodating 116 customers indoors and 66 outdoors. The redesign even includes a gaming corner equipped with dart boards and new video games, along with well-equipped restrooms and sprinkler systems.
Patel echoed how the pub’s enhancement harmonizes with the city’s growth. With future developments set within close range, such as the AC Hotel, future baseball stadium, and an impending multi-use complex, the pub’s location is undeniably prime real estate. “With all the developments taking place in the city, the time felt right to make this decision,” conveyed Patel.
Patel assured that the enlarged space was not just for accommodating more customers. The roomy setup allows Main Street Pub to present heightened entertainment options. The additions will support larger bands during their live music events. “It’s all about providing options. If you’re not interested in karaoke, you can simply move to another section of the bar,” elaborated Patel.
Watching major sporting events at the pub is now going to be an entirely new experience with 42 strategically installed televisions, projector screens, and a video wall. The advanced audio system adds to the vibrant ambiance.
Besides the stunning visual transformations, the pub’s menu has received a total revamp, including new options for staples, innovative dishes, and a shareable appetizer section. Besides the food, the bar introduces a unique feature- a slushie machine exclusively designed for alcoholic drinks, one of the first of its kind in South Carolina. “You can choose the liquor, the base, and then the flavor. The options are limitless,” Patel stated.
Popular past specials are making their way back to the regular menu due to popular demand. Some of the exciting highlights include ‘The Bougie Pretzel’, a Bavarian pretzel topped with exotic items, ‘The Italian Job’, a sandwich packed with mouthwatering ingredients, and the ‘Calabash Shrimp’ marinated in buttermilk and hot sauce.
The renewed Main Street Pub is unquestionably a testament to Spartanburg’s ever-evolving downtown landscape, ensuring the city remains a social and cultural hub. Located at 252 W. Main St. in Spartanburg, it is open from 11 a.m.-12 a.m. on Sunday and Monday and from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
