A high-speed chase involving law enforcement officials ends tragically

A man from Forest City, North Carolina, tragically lost his life in a crash that transpired after a high-speed chase with law enforcement. According to reports from the Spartanburg Coroner’s Office, the chase initiated in North Carolina before reaching its fatal climax in Fingerville, a small community within Spartanburg County.

Sequence of Events

The deceased has been identified as Jaden Beheler, a 23-year-old resident of Dewberry Hill, North Carolina. Law enforcement officers from the Chensnee Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office initially engaged in the chase. As Beheler crossed into Spartanburg County, deputies from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office also became involved in the pursuit.

In an attempt to bring the high-speed chase to a stop, traffic deputies deployed stop sticks, which successfully deflated one of the rear tires of the stolen vehicle Beheler was driving on Highway 11.

Tragic Ending to the Chase

In a shocking twist, video evidence from a Chesnee officer revealed that Beheler appeared to have shot himself while still driving, before his vehicle veered off the road and crashed. According to the Spartanburg Coroner’s Office, Beheler sustained a gunshot wound to his head which led to his death.

Beheler was rushed to the Spartanburg Medical Center immediately following the crash. The medical professionals at the hospital corroborated the coroner’s initial assessment that Beheler likely committed suicide while driving.

While the incident is still under a comprehensive investigation, it has been confirmed that the South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the traffic-related aspects of the case, and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is primarily focusing on the death investigation.
