Memorial Day in the Upstate
When Memorial Day arrives, most workers have a day off and enjoy a three-day weekend. Most major retailers and grocery stores will open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
Are Grocery Stores Open?
If you need to get groceries or make a last-minute shopping run, here are a few that will be open. Holiday hours may vary, so check with each store before heading out.
- Walmart will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Target stores will be open.
- Publix stores will be open during regular hours.
- Aldi stores will be open with limited hours.
- Whole Foods locations will be open.
- Food Lion locations will be open during their regular hours.
- Save A Lot is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Ingles Market is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- The Fresh Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Lidl will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Trader Joe’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
What’s Open on Memorial Day
Will I Get Mail on Monday?
In honor of Memorial Day, the United States Postal Service facilities in South Carolina will be closed, and mail will not be delivered. Most FedEx services will also be closed on Monday, except FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Office, which will operate under modified hours.
Will My Trash Be Picked Up on Monday?
Trash pick-up will not run on Memorial Day. If your normal pickup day falls on or after the holiday, your collection day will run one day later that week unless the holiday falls on a weekend.
Are Government Offices Open?
All South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed. All County Government offices and County library locations will be closed.
Will My Bank Be Open?
Most banks and credit unions, such as Wells Fargo and Bank of America, will be closed on Memorial Day. ATMs will be open.
Is School Open on Monday?
Most schools are also closed on Memorial Day or out for the summer.
Is Costco Open on Monday?
According to Costco’s website, warehouses will be closed on Memorial Day.
Can You Purchase Alcohol on Memorial Day?
South Carolina is not an ABC state and has privately owned liquor stores. That means holiday hours are up to the store’s owner.
