Hello, fellow Spartans! There’s an exciting event lined up for our city that’s not just fun-filled but also incredibly significant. You’ve got a chance to support a terrific cause while indulging in something you love – cycling! Who knew that your love for riding could also help save lives, right?
“Miles for Mammograms” is an exhilarating bike ride event set for Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the beautiful Holston Creek Park in Inman. Not only does this event promote fitness and community involvement, but it’s also all about supporting a critical cause – mammograms screenings for those in need. You got it right! The event is all about pedaling to promote health and wellness among our Spartanburg sisters who may not have sufficient insurance or the financial means to afford these vital screenings.
The stellar folks at the Bearden Josey cycling team are behind organizing this event. Participants have the option of registering to ride either 25 or 45 on the designated day. The more, the merrier, so make sure you let your family and friends know about it. All proceeds generated from the event will directly go to provide free mammograms to people who can’t afford to pay or those underinsured.
Our city’s mammogram assistance fund, which gets a hefty boost from events like this one, provides critical financial assistance so that women can access life-saving screenings. These screenings occur via two dedicated mobile mammography units and at Bearden Josey breast centers. So when you participate in the ride or donate, you’re directly helping someone in your community get the medical attention they need. Now, isn’t that a fantastic reason to hop on your bike and ride?
Of course, your efforts won’t go unrewarded! Apart from the wholehearted satisfaction of contributing to a noble cause, the event promises some delightful perks. At the ride, participants can grab a quick snack at a rest stop filled with homemade baked goodies. And if these tasty treats don’t fulfill your hunger pangs, there’s a lunch offered right after the ride. Moreover, don’t forget to get involved in the raffle with attractive prizes up for grabs like exquisite jewelry, wellness treatments, and a fancy wheelset! Now, who could resist those?
If you can’t make it to the ride but would love to support the cause, don’t worry! Just visit Rapid Fired Pizza on John B White Sr Blvd in Spartanburg, mention Bearden Josey, and an impressive 25% of your purchase will go directly to support the cause. Now, how about adding a dash of charitable joy to your pizza munching session?
So, let’s all come together and gear up for “Miles for Mammograms.” Enjoy a picturesque ride around our lovely city, and remember – every pedal you push potentially saves a life. See you there, Spartanburg!
