Nacho Taco Mexican restaurant closes doors in downtown Spartanburg

Long-established Mexican eatery renowned for its delectable tacos and carnitas ends its Spartanburg chapter

A Noteworthy Chapter Comes to an End

Downtown Spartanburg nurtured a rich culinary food scene, which embraced various cuisines. One such notable name was Nacho Taco, famous for its authentic Mexican-style tacos and succulent oven-roasted pork carnitas. On February 24, the restaurant, which has been a once-buzzing hub for food enthusiasts since 2017, announced its immediate closure through a heartfelt social media post.

The End of An Era

Fabian Mata-owned, Nacho Taco, situated at 129 N. Spring St., has had a successful run since it started operating. According to data provided by OneSpartanburg Inc., a prominent business, tourism, and economic entity, the business officially bid its fans and patron’s goodbye, expressing gratitude for the love and support received over the years.

Regretfully, like a lot of business owners who have shut their doors during these challenging times, the permanent closure was the final curtain call. The farewell announcement through the Facebook post was full of gratitude, reminiscing the relationships and bonds with their patrons that will still hold a special place.

The Impact

With the closure of Nacho Taco, downtown Spartanburg now houses five popular Mexican-style restaurants. These are Mezcal Taberna Mexicana situated at 143 W. Main St., El Paso Tacos & Tequila at 149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave, Bronco Mexican Restaurant with two outlets at 1560 Union St. and 435 E. Main St., Willy Taco at 930 E. Main St., and Mata’s Mexican Bar & Grill located at 464 E. Main St.

All these flourishing restaurants continue to uplift the essence of Mexican cuisine in downtown Spartanburg, commented Zach Fox, communications director at OneSpartanburg, Inc.

Conclusion

Although Nacho Taco has ceased its operations and now omitted from the Mexican restaurant roster, the legacy it leaves behind will remain a vibrant part of downtown Spartanburg’s culinary history. HERE News extends its heartfelt gratitude to the institution for its significant contribution, wishing all former employees and owners the best in their future endeavors.
