Greenville is buzzing with opportunities for expectant and new parents to learn, connect and prepare for the exciting journey of parenthood. A variety of organizations – from hospitals to wellness centers – are rolling out comprehensive schedules of classes, support gatherings, and resources.
First on the calendar is the half-day Childbirth Preparation class at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside. You can sign up for 6-9 p.m. slot on Dec. 9.
In addition, a Breastfeeding Class is available on Dec. 4 and Jan. 8, also at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside. Feel free to call 864-675-4400 or log on to the Bon Secours website to register.
Grandparents are not left out in the mix either. A Grandparent Preparation and Infant CPR class is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside.
Rounding off the offerings at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside, you can learn the A-Z of Caring for Your Newborn. Precise dates and times can be obtained by calling the registration number or surfing the website.
For the new and expecting moms seeking a community, Reproductive Journey Counseling and Support is offering Navigating Motherhood, a free support group. The get-togethers take place the first Monday and third Thursday of every month. Register for the meet-ups online.
You can also get your breastfeeding cues from the experts at the Spartanburg Medical Center’s Prepared Breastfeeding class, offered in-person on Dec. 17 and online on Dec. 19. There’s also the Prepared Parents: Infant Care class at the center on Dec. 12.
Curious about what lies ahead in the hospital? You can take a virtual tour of the Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital or participate in OB hospital walking tours, offered at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside on Dec. 2 and Dec. 5.
What about Infant Safety, you ask? Well, there’s a class for that too at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside. It’s all part of the thorough programming designed to prepare you for every aspect of new parenthood.
On the other hand, Nourish Integrative Lactation and Wellness offers an infant feeding and postpartum support group that meets twice a month. The sessions are slated for the first and third Tuesdays.
Ready to learn some life-saving skills? Prepare to master Infant and Child CPR at Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside at 6:30pm on Dec. 11.
Let’s not forget about car safety. Safe Kids of the Piedmont and Spartanburg Medical Center are offering a Child Passenger Seat Safety Inspection. Check their website for available dates.
To round it off, the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Greenville Technical College is offering expectant mothers between 22 and 30 weeks gestational age free OB ultrasounds. Interested mothers can register by calling 864-250-8290.
Clearly, Greenville is a hub of resources and support for parents. So if you’re expecting a bundle of joy or already holding one in your arms, be sure to make the most of these opportunities.
