Mountain View Preparatory School Set to Open in Spartanburg this August

Spartanburg, a city renowned for its commitment to education, is adding another feather to its cap. The much-anticipated Mountain View Preparatory charter school will officially open its doors this coming August. An audience of excited parents, students, local educators, and administrative officials gathered on July 8 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of this new academic institution.

Charter School Gearing Up for the Academic Year

This state-of-the-art facility will soon house approximately 1,000 students from grades seven through twelve. The newly renovated commercial office building, situated at 895 Springfield Road, underwent a whopping $12 million renovation, transforming it into a sprawling 48,000-square-foot education complex.

Preparation for Sports and Entertainment Careers

One unique aspect of Mountain View Preparatory’s curriculum is its primary focus on careers in sports and entertainment. This initiative aims to provide young learners with both career and technical education in these specialized fields. Traci Bryant-Riches, one of the school’s founders, expressed her anticipation and belief in the institution’s unique combination of academics and athletics.

“This state-of-the-art facility reinforces our commitment to providing top-notch educational programs and opportunities that foster both academic and athletic excellence,” Bryant-Riches said. “This is only the first phase of our growth plan as we continue to build facilities that match the uniqueness and creativeness of our school model.”

Support and Funding from Non-Profit Organizations

The school renovations project was accomplished through a collaborative effort between Building Hope and Charter School Development Corp., two nonprofit organizations focused on charter school development. In addition, the project received financial aid from BlueHub Capital.

“We are confident that Mountain View Preparatory will make a significant impact on the lives of its students by offering personalised career and technology pathways that prepare them for bright futures,” said William Hansen, president and CEO of Building Hope.

Looking Forward

The school is now ready to bring a fresh perspective to the Spartanburg community, offering opportunities for students to realize their potential in both academics and athletics. The upcoming August opening is a momentous event, marking the commencement of a new era in education. To know more about Mountain View Preparatory, visit their official website at mvpstars.org.
