Spartanburg’s professional baseball team will announce its official name this Saturday, in a move that has been eagerly anticipated by fans and local residents. The revelation will take place during a community block party from 5-9 p.m., offering the opportunity for members of the community to come together for a night of entertainment while waiting to hear the much-anticipated reveal.
The block party, located on Daniel Morgan Avenue between the AC Hotel and Coldwell Banker Caine, is set to be a lively event, with the official announcement scheduled for 7 p.m. Immediately after the announcement, there will be merchandise available featuring the new team name and logo. Aside from the main attraction, the party will host a variety of activities for attendees to participate in and enjoy.
In the true spirit of a family-friendly event, food trucks, live music, face painting, and mobile video games will be present to entertain guests of all ages. Food trucks include Eat Street Grill, Pelican’s Snowballs, Timmons Concessions, El Paso Tacos & Tequila, Rad Dad’s BBQ, Yum Bai, and Wilson’s Donuts. Music for the night will be provided by Back 9 Band, J. Stephens Band, Daniel Lovelace Band, and DJ Apollo. The event will draw to a close with a thrilling fireworks show.
Attendees are allowed to bring their own chairs, food, and drinks to the event; however, the merchandise booth will operate on a cashless basis, accepting only electronic payments. To accommodate the expected turnout, ample parking has been arranged at the former City Hall parking lot, QS/1 parking lot, and the garages at Magnolia, Dunbar, and Kennedy streets. Unfortunately, the former Herald-Journal and Spring Street parking lots will not be available to use.
Fans will also have the unique opportunity to purchase a customized jersey sporting their own name and a number of their choice, a memorable keepsake from what is set to be a historic evening in Spartanburg’s sporting history.
This momentous event is not only significant for the team but is also a celebration of the local community and its rich sporting culture. As anticipation builds towards Saturday’s reveal, the unveiling is seen as a significant step in fostering community pride and establishing a strong identity for Spartanburg’s baseball team.
