An individual linked to multiple burglaries in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has been apprehended by local law enforcement, according to confirmed sources. Identified as Justin D. Ross, the 22-year-old from Gaffney was caught in the act during an attempted break-in early Monday on John B. White Sr. Boulevard.
Acting on a call reporting a burglary in progress around 2:50 a.m., officers from the Spartanburg Police Department found Ross inside the business venue. He was promptly ordered to the ground and arrested without incident.
Although the investigation is still in the early stages, detectives believe Ross may be linked to an additional six burglaries on the east side of the city, specifically in the East Main Street area. The method of entry in each of these instances involved throwing a brick or rock to shatter windows.
Major Art Littlejohn of the Spartanburg Police Department explained, “In each one of them, he [Ross] made entry by using a rock or a brick and throwing it into the windows, and so in many of the cases the windows were shattered with a brick or some type of rock.”
Investigators believe the primary motivation for Ross’s actions was financial gain. Emphasizing this point, Littlejohn stated, “In some of the cases there was a cash register that was taken or they [Ross] tried to enter a cash register and get money.”
The Spartanburg Police Department is currently offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for any information that could further aid their ongoing investigation of these crimes.
