The city of Spartanburg is all geared up for a spectacular Christmas Parade organized by the Spartanburg Jaycees. The region will resonate with the rhythm of marching bands and shine brighter with twinkling lights and glorious floats, making your Thursday, December 12, evening even more festive.
The parade was originally planned to be conducted on Tuesday, December 10, but unfortunately, due to some unwelcome weather forecast, the event got postponed. But not to worry, folks! The wait is only going to make the parade more worth experiencing.
The Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp. So, you better start securing the best viewing spots with your cozies on! However, remember there will be a few downtown road closures that are due to start as early as 2 p.m. The reason being, the parade route streets will also need to close by 5:45 p.m. Don’t worry though, these will reopen as soon as the parade passes.
The parade will kick start from Henry Street, then make a left onto Pine Street, another left onto East Main Street, a right onto Church Street and finally a right onto Daniel Morgan to mark the end of the procession. It seems that Daniel Morgan Avenue between Church Street and Dean Street will remain closed until 10 p.m. or until all the parade floats and personnel have left the area.
Here is a fun fact for you, folks. The December’s Miles with the Mayor will be a part of the Spartanburg-Spartanburg Jaycees Christmas Parade. So, if you are a participant of the Miles with the Mayor, you will be meeting on Henry Street by Sugar & Spice at 5:45 p.m. to walk alongside Mayor Jerome Rice through the streets of downtown Spartanburg. That’s an exciting blend of festivity and local participation, right?
Here’s a sigh of relief for everyone worrying about the parking, all downtown parking garages will be accessible and parking will be entirely free. As per the current weather forecast, Thursday is supposed to be sunny during the day. You can expect the highs to be in the low 50s, with a night-time low in the 30s. So, remember to dress appropriately!
By any chance, if you miss the Spartanburg Christmas Parade, Spartanburg County has some more parades lined-up for you. Watch out for the Christmas in Chesnee Parade presented by the City of Chesnee and Comporium, lighting up the night on December 13. Starting at 6 p.m., this parade will feature dazzling floats and festive entertainment.
For those who fancy more, don’t forget about Lyman’s Christmas Parade that is set to twinkle on December 14, starting at 5 p.m. at 81 Groce Road.
