Spartanburg County Set for Economic Growth as AFL Announces $155 Million Expansion and 150 New Jobs

Spartanburg County to experience Economic Boost as AFL Expands Operations with $155 Million Investment

There’s a big development brewing in Spartanburg County. AFL, the major player in producing fiber optic products and equipment, declared on Tuesday that it is amplifying its manufacturing operations all across the county.

150 Job Opportunities Ahead

The good news doesn’t end there! This move by AFL is backed by a $155 million investment and is projected to create over 150 new jobs over the next two to five years. If you’re dreaming of getting your foot in the door of the fiber optics industry, the time might be just about right.

“For four decades, AFL has been deeply rooted in Spartanburg County. Thanks to the strong support of our state and local leaders, our expansion enhances our global manufacturing capabilities while strengthening our local community,” shares AFL President and CEO Jaxon Lang in a recent quote. “This investment enables us to better serve customers worldwide with increased production capacity, while creating new opportunities in the Upstate.”

Expansion Across Duncan

AFL is set to broaden all of its fiber optic cable manufacturing operations located across Duncan, according to a recent press release. This expansion increases production capacity for the critical equipment needed to support domestic cable manufacturing, broadband deployment, and power grid modernization.

Aiding this big leap, The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $200,000 set-aside grant to Spartanburg County to assist with the costs of building improvements. A boost for both, the county and AFL!

A Win-Win for AFL and Spartanburg County

This deep-rooted relationship between AFL and Spartanburg County is a testament to the booming business climate in the county. As mentioned by David Britt, Spartanburg County Council Vice Chairman and Economic Development Committee Chairman, “AFL expanding their Spartanburg County operations shows the company’s success and how good it is to do business in Spartanburg County right now.”
