Spartanburg County Sees Economic Boost with AFL’s $155 Million Expansion, Creating Over 150 Jobs

Spartanburg County Welcomes AFL’s Expansion

Some refreshing news came out of Spartanburg County on Tuesday. AFL, a leading manufacturer of fiber optic products and equipment, declared a massive expansion of its local manufacturing operations. With a promised investment of $155 million, the company is rolling its sleeves up to bring over 150 new job opportunities in the county over the next two to five years.

“For four decades, AFL has been deeply rooted in Spartanburg County. Thanks to the strong support of our state and local leaders, our expansion enhances our global manufacturing capabilities while strengthening our local community,” said company CEO.

No Stone Left Unturned

The focus of this plan? Expanding all of the company’s fiber optic cable manufacturing operations located across Duncan. This means increased production capacity, meaning more of the critical equipment needed to support domestic cable manufacturing, broadband deployment, and power grid modernization will be available. Sounds like a win-win situation for all!

In a promising turn of events, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development is pitching in too. They’ve awarded a $200,000 set-aside grant to Spartanburg County, according to the company, which aims to assist with the costs of building improvements necessitated by the expansion.

A Boon for Spartanburg County

This expansion isn’t just about fiber optics and cables, it’s showing how businesses can thrive in Spartanburg County. “AFL’s expansion shows the company’s success and speaks volumes personally about doing business in Spartanburg County,” says a local county council representative.

The core of the matter remains the new job opportunities that this expansion brings with it for the residents of Spartanburg County. “On behalf of the county council, we are thankful that AFL continues to provide opportunities for our residents,” the representative added.
