In a frightening incident on Sunday, a man had a brush with danger on Whitney Rd. while cruising to a local club in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Deputies report that the man had a narrow escape from what could have turned into a deadly encounter.
The man, who wisely contacted the local authorities immediately after the incident, recounted an unsettling encounter. A truck, which had been following him a little too closely, then sped past him in an overly aggressive manner. To his shock, someone inside the truck began firing shots in his direction. Terrifyingly, about four bullets whizzed past him.
In the chaos and thick exhaust smoke belching from the speeding truck, the man was unable to note its license plate number. He did, however, manage to notice a few distinctive features of the vehicle. The lifted gray truck, a 2010’s Dodge Ram, sported a large decal of a “Mexican skull” and a flag in its rear window.
Thankfully, the bullets didn’t hit their mark during this disconcerting highway incident. Deputies have confirmed that no one was injured in this distressing encounter. However, this incident has undoubtedly shaken up the local community and raised concerns about highway safety in the area.
Currently, the Sheriff’s Office is gathering more evidence related to this incident. Citing a lack of suspect information, deputies announced that there’s no outstanding warrant at this time beyond the victim’s report. The Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office is making a call to local residents and urging anyone with relevant information to step forward. They can be reached at 864-503-4500.
This troubling event has served as a sobering reminder to drivers about the unpredictability of highway travel. Whether it’s a late-night club run or a simple drive to work, maintaining road safety and staying alert on the highway is paramount. In the meantime, as the investigation continues, let’s spread as much awareness as we can, so such an unsettling incident doesn’t repeat itself.
