Spartanburg County Set to Increase Population by Over 100,000, State Leaders Announce

State officials have stated that Spartanburg County, known for its rapid development, is expected to welcome more than 100,000 new residents over the next eighteen years. This projection, made by the South Carolina’s Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office, identifies Spartanburg County as the second fastest-growing county in the state.

With an average of 29 people moving into the county each day, local authorities including Spartanburg County Council member David Britt, are implementing stringent measures to accommodate the surge. The county currently houses about 370,000 residents. “Heads in beds drive all the restaurants and all the retail, the things that people want to do. They don’t have to get in a car and drive to Atlanta or Charlotte to shop,” said Britt during a recent press briefing.
