Power Outage Strikes Spartanburg County
Outages Reported Across the County
An unexpected power outage has left many residents of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, without electricity. Duke Energy reports that a large part of the county is currently without power due to tree-related damage.
Fallen Trees Damage Power Lines
According to officials, the power outage can be attributed to fallen trees or limbs that have damaged local power lines in the Reidville area. These disruptions have left an estimated 859 customers without power. The interruption started around 1 p.m. local time leaving many homes and businesses in darkness.
Restoration Expected Soon
Duke Energy has already sent repair teams to the affected areas to address the issue and restore power as quickly as possible. An initial estimate indicates that power to the majority of the affected service area should be restored by 4:15 p.m. However, Duke Energy warns that this is subject to change as crews continue to assess the extent of the damage,.
Residents are kindly requested to maintain patience while the repair work is being conducted. Those in the affected area are encouraged to stay away from and report downed power lines or dangerous conditions. Residents are also reminded to keep their electronic devices charged and to have emergency supplies on hand in case of unexpected incidents like this.
In the meantime, the cause of the trees falling is yet to be determined. Local authorities have initiated an investigation to find out if weather conditions, such as substantial wind speeds or storms, contributed to the incident.
